Everyone wants to transmit to their children a taste for beautiful things and respect for the world around us ...

Designed for 6 to 24 months babies and children aged 2 to 10, l'asticot is a new brand of organic clothing and accessories, which places both aesthetics and ethics at the heart of its creative process. Organic clothing, of course, but beautiful too!

In terms of design, the brand updates the styles of the '70s; profiles are worked closer to the body, printed with l'asticot's own unusual and colourful materials which bring its collections right up to date. The brand identity is strengthened through careful attention to detail, like the interesting worm-logo (l'asticot) cleverly worked into different parts of the clothes.

Designed for daily use by curious, creative and lively children who are always on the go, l'asticot clothing and accessories' main objectives are comfort, quality and convenience. With parents and the environment firmly in mind, l'asticot has designed timeless unisex collections for girls and boys alike, because a garment that lasts is a garment that protects the planet…

And that's the central idea! L'asticot is concerned not only with the comfort and appearance of our kids, but also for their future. They use only the finest materials and natural fibres such as cotton, wool, flax and hemp, while respecting the rules of fair trade - taking care of our environment is taking care of our children.

Using materials from organic farming

To make its collections, l'asticot works primarily with organically produced materials to protect childrens' sensitive skin. Organic cotton is grown without pesticides or chemical fertilisers, which guarantees a healthy environment for people in the producing areas. It has the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)/Eko Sustainable Textile label, which ensures harmonisation of certification of organic textiles worldwide.

Compliance with fair trade standards

L'asticot's organic cotton is grown in India in compliance with fair trade principles, which enables farmers to earn a decent living from their work and enjoy a healthy work environment. Out commitment to this approach contributes to improving their living conditions.

Certifications of dyes and screen prints

All dyes and prints used meet strict health standards; they contain no chemicals deemed unsafe for health. With its Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification, product class I, for textiles and textile toys for babies and small children, l'asticot offers the guarantee of a healthy product.

Local development and Portuguese manufacturing

L'asticot aims to preserve regional textile expertise and provide work for European craftsmen and thus it manufactures all its products in Portugal. The company's principal manufacturing partner has obtained the Ecolabel (No. PT/016/04), the only official European ecolabel. It is based on the principle of an approach that takes into account the life cycle of a product from raw material production, manufacturing, distribution and use, to recycling or disposal after use.

Recycling policy

L'asticot minimises its packaging and prints all of its communication and packaging on recycled paper, employing an "IMPRIM'VERT" certified printing works. The technical specifications of the company are founded on four simple criteria: proper management of hazardous waste, secure storage for dangerous liquids, exclusion of all toxic products and making their customers aware of the environment issues.
