L'asticot project was founded by two friends, united by the desire to provide sustainable, ecological and responsible solutions that met their needs as contemporary young mothers.
Christie, the stylist, had been cultivating the idea of a line clothing for a long time. After the birth of her first child, that idea took shape in the face of her little boy. With the help of Danièle, journalist and herself mother of two small boys, the project took form four years later as l'asticot. Together, with their complementary personalities, they have designed a line of clothes and accessories for children whose appeal lies in its originality and its ecological, social and environmental commitment.
L'asticot is thus the result of a desire to teach our children the love of beautiful things while instilling in them an awareness of the environment in which we live.
Until recently, the notions of respect of the environment, fair trade and "fashion attitude" had little in common. L'asticot was based on the idea that today, with the technical solutions at our disposal and the urgency to act for our planet, it is possible to make "ethics" and "aesthetics" rhyme.
Hence the idea was hatched for range of responsible products with attractive and imaginative cuts, materials, shapes and colours.
With their experience as young mothers, Christie and Danièle saw the need for practical and comfortable clothes which were also playful, original and off-beat, like the kids who wear them.
Thus, in autumn 2009, l'asticot's first models were launched; functional, original and creative cuts, easy to put on and to mix and match, which make the l'asticot label the mark of a 'responsible tribe' with which children will identify with glee.
